Oliver and I just finished up a 10 day elimination diet and cleanse that I put together and plan on conducting with groups this spring. We both felt so stellar throughout the process — not to mention slimmer, healthier, more energetic, empowered, and serene! I thought it would be a crime not to share some of the basics with you all. One of the things I appreciate most about cleansing, is the opportunity to remind myself that I have control over the inside of my body. I may not be able to control what is going on in the topsy turvy world around me, but I can control what I feed my body, mind, and soul. Being very conscious of this fact brings such freedom!
On top of that, I tend to experience the following when cleansing:
- Freedom from sugar!
- Freedom from caffeine!
- Boundless energy and vitality (especially in the morning)
- Connecting to my intuition, creativity, wisdom.
- A lightness to my step, feeling longer and leaner.
- Clear eyes, a sharp mind, and a more open heart.
These awesome benefits happen every time, some more profoundly than others.
Taking 10 days to practice self control, prioritize self care and to be very intentional about what I put into my body, leaves me feeling centered and completely empowered! Plus, each time I cleanse a new positive habit tends to stick around—which is a major win!
So what did we actually do? We did a 10 day elimination diet and ayurvedic cleanse. The elimination diet basically took out all the usual suspects:
- Processed Food
- Negative Thinking
I know what you’re thinking…"what the heck did you eat ?!”
A lot! I will post this week with a few tasty recipes that we included in our cleanse. This cleanse is based in ayurveda, the traditional Hindu system of medicine, which is based on the idea of balance in the bodily systems through diet, herbal treatment, and yogic breathing. I will share a couple of practices in the next couple of days to help keep you clean - clean - clean! Oh! And, all this healthy eating was in preparation for a three day Juice Fast. Intermittent fasting has so many wonderful benefits for your health. Additionally, it is a wonderful practice in self control and self awareness. While juice fasting I tend to experience the most wonderful clarity and confidence in my self and my decision making. I feel closer to who I am and what I want. I highly recommend trying a fast so that you can experience the benefits yourself!
